Quoi
de neuf pour la
réception par satellite, qu'est-ce que je peux
recevoir "gratuitement" et comment faire?
The home computer can become a high definition television.
The card used is the Technisat Skystar HD. I got it online from
Transplanet, but I think it is available everywhere.
Details in English are
HERE.
The card is no longer supported by the manufacturer's website. The Skystar HD2 card should be used instead now!
The 'bundle' of software is interesting for Windows XP and Vista, but
is not compatible with 64-bit Windows Seven. Software and drivers are
required to record and play HD files. Fortunately there is a solution!
Skystar HD card is actually a clone of another card, the Technotrend
Budget S2-3200 and drivers for this card were once available, although
they are no longer found on the manufacturer's website it would seem!
You can download them
HERE. I am speaking here about Skystar HD1 and not HD2.
To complete the necessary software, it is better to buy DVBViewer Pro
(a demo version is available). The price of 15 euros for the pro
version is largely justified. It is available
HERE.
Otherwise the drivers work with Windows 7 Mediacenter but it is less easy to use!
Warning! You need a fast computer because the video bit rates can be around 20Mb/s.
The update for Windows XP and Vista 32 bits are the Technisat site
HERE.
For programmes, the choice is somewhat limited. Although there are
several promotional channels, the only ones that have real programmes
are
BBC HD and ITV HD on Astra 28. The German version of
ARTE HD is available on Astra 19. You can select the French soundtrack, but sometimes there are surprises!
Luxe TV HD is also available on various satellites in different languages ..
A
85cm dish is preferable in the south of France..
The LNB is connected directly on the card.
With this card you can use up to 4 LNB's via a diseqc 1.0 box.
Of course, all FTA broadcasts in standard definition will be received as well.
The quality of your image will depend largely on your monitor and video card.
Note the large file size in HD, 8Go per hour of recording.
The BBC HD programmes are
HERE and ITV HD programmes are
HERE.
