Around and about Grenoble
The 'Red Bridge' at 'Pont de Claix',
and the Rochefort source.
The 'Pont Rouge', opened in 1611, is built on the most
stable and
narrowest point of the Drac at Pont de Claix and replaces the ferry
that
cost dearly in taxes for farmers bringing their products to market in
Grenoble. In 1873, a new bridge, much less steep, was built along
side, which would allow, a few years later, the passage of the electric
tramway to Vif. From 1885, after two years of work, the first
underground water drains supply water to the city of Grenoble who's
mayor at the time was Edouard Rey........

Italian Holiday.
Tuscany-
june 2007.
You may have seen my photos taken during our holiday in
Tuscany in 2007, or maybe not. Anyway I wanted to bring the albums up
to date with a better presentation and slide shows. After 8 years they
have probably become more like history but never mind!

Around and about Grenoble...
Le Murier.
Starting out from "Le Village" on the outskirts of Grenoble just the
other side of the ringroad, you can see a symbol of the revolution,
feel some nostalgia for "La Belle Epoque", get a big breath of fresh
air, be moved by the memory of those who were deported by the nazis,
visit one of Vauban's forts that were supposed to protect Grenoble from
invasion, see some street art and get some stunning views of Grenoble
and the mountains that surround it. Not bad for a couple of hours
walking!
