| 1950's In the fifties, music was at a turning point, I suppose. We listened to our music on 78 rpm records which were progressively replaced by 45 rpm and then by the long playing 33 rpm. Ballades and country style(Pat Boone,Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Nat King Cole....) music gave way to something more exciting: Rock and Roll. In England this meant Lonnie Donigan the skiffle king, Tommy Steel,the Beatles and Cliff Richard.Luckily my brother started working in a Radio & TV repair shop, and at home we generally had some big cabinet which housed a radio and a record player(the radiogram). This started my interest in music and electronics. The cabinet enabled some big booming bass sounds which were very popular at the time. It's got a nice 'mellow' sound people would say. Nous écoutions notre musique sur des disques 78 t/min qui ont été progressivement remplacés par des 45 t/min et puis par les 33 t/min. Ballades et musique de style country(Pat Boone, Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Nat King Cole....) ont cédé la place à quelque chose plus passionnant: le Rock et Roll. En Angleterre ça voulait dire Lonnie Donigan, le roi de skiffle, Tommy Steel, les Beatles et Cliff Richard. Heureusement mon frère commençait de travailler dans un atelier de réparation Radio et TV, et à la maison, on avait généralement ce commode qui logé une radio et une platine tourne disque (la radio gramme). ceci a été le début de mon intérêt en musique et électronique. L'appareil permettait les sons graves très prononcés, ce qui était populaire à l'époque. Il avait un joli son rond on disait. La platine était automatique et on pourrait empiler plusieurs disques les unes sur les autres de façon à avoir un temps d'écoute plus important.
